Our Veterinary Surgeons

Bob Partridge

BVM&S Dipl.EVDC MRCVS. European Veterinary Specialist in Dentistry

Bob qualified from the Royal Dick Veterinary School in Edinburgh in 1984, he joined a mixed small animal and equine practice in Lincoln and then worked in Sheffield and Manchester before setting up practice in Harrogate in 1988. His interest in veterinary dentistry led to him helping to found the British Veterinary Dental Association and he was awarded the prestigious Diploma of the European Veterinary Dental College in 2011 – making him one of only 6 European Dental Specialists working in the UK. His other interests are in all things related to pet veterinary practice, especially enjoying micro-surgery on eyes. Alongside his commitment to patient and client care is a call of duty to the veterinary profession. He has served many of the professional organisations and has been re-elected by his peers for a second term as a Council Member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (the vet's governing body). His desire to provide the best possible care for the pets of Harrogate led to the establishment of North Yorkshire's first Veterinary Hospital, the continual training and encouragement of the team and on-going investment in the highest standards of equipment and facilities. Outside of work he struggles to run the London Marathons for Charity, is a qualified Master Scuba Diver, an enthusiastic skier, an occasional cyclist, boules and croquet player, a gooseherd, breadmaker and a reluctant gardener – but mainly loves spending time walking in the Dales with his wife and two Springer Spaniels.

Anne Blackburn

BVM&S CertVD MRCVS.

Anne qualified from the Royal Dick in Edinburgh with Distinction and after a few years in mainly Equine practice she decided to pursue a career in small animal practice arriving in Harrogate in February 1994. A special interest in dermatology and internal medicine, led to her achieving the RCVS Certificate in Veterinary Dermatology in 1997. Anne shares the desire to care absolutely for the pets entrusted to us, and employs an active approach to veterinary science, with thorough investigation and treatment of patients.

Anne is a keen dog walker and has a love of gardening and making improvements to her home. She also "gives back" to the profession by serving on a BVA committee and being Treasurer of the Veterinary Hospitals Association.

Julia Thomson

BVMS MRCVS.

Julia qualified from Glasgow in 1987 and joined the practice in 2002 having spent some years in France bringing up her family. Julia regularly works at the Ashdale Clinic with a large, loyal and committed following of clients and their pet friends.

Julia is actively involved in our local British Small Animal Veterinary Association and helps to run educational meetings.

Gemma Townsend

BVetMed MRCVS

Gemma qualified from the Royal Veterinary College in London in 2011 and joined the practice in October 2013. She previously worked in a Small Animal Hospital in County Durham but is glad to be back on home soil being originally from Harrogate. Gemma enjoys all aspects of veterinary practice and has a particular interest in feline medicine and surgery which she is keen to develop further in the future. Outside of work Gemma enjoys walking and cycling in the beautiful Yorkshire countryside, various crafty bits and bobs and baking.

Paulina Sergienko

DVM MRCVS

Paulina graduated from the University of Veterinary Medicine and Pharmacy in Kosice, Slovakia in 2011. She moved to UK straight after her graduation and started to work at small animal veterinary practice in Norwich. After 2 years she realised she misses mountains and hills too much so she decided to move to Yorkshire and so she joined our practice in August 2013. Whilst enjoying all aspects of veterinary medicine she is a keen and talented surgeon and has interests in diagnostic imaging (x-rays/endoscopy/ultrasound).

When not at work she spends her time outdoors hiking/running with her Weimaraner Ema, or out of country wondering on her travels. Paulina also asked that we record "how awesome, talented, intelligent and pretty she is". Features noted by her husband as he swept her off her feet. A fact from Paulina's childhood – She wanted to be dog first but had to become a vet as the first one didn't work out.
